A very mature 27. There's actually alot of people over at Friday's forum my age. But the atmosphere just seems more juvenile. Or maybe the real reason I don't comfortably fit in around there is the fact that everything is on such a personal level. Alot of people there know absolutely everything about one another. So when I enter the forum I feel like a new husband at his wife's family reunion...does that make sense?
I love talking about genre films, they've been my passion for years. But posting about my home life, work life, etc is just not something I'm comfortable with. Atleast not on a public message board. The voyeur side of me has visited "the campfire" section on several occasions. I know way more about the various members personal lives and even physical anatomy than I ever should know.

Heh... I am 27 as well, but probably think and act way younger than that, whether that's a good thing or not. Yes, it is all a bit personal without a doubt, but once you make friends there it's a lot easier. Still though, it's not for everyone. Physical anatomy? I'd never post to such a thread... yeah... that'll be my story. Seriously though, I've made some amazing true friends that I've met through that site... give it a chance.

Yeah, Maybe your right. I shouldn't carry such a chip on my shoulder when it comes to personal discussion on genre boards. I have always felt it was out of place. But I'll try to warm up to it in the future.
I also feel compelled to retract my "very mature 27" remark. Atleast on the level of taste. While I am 27, the fact that I still have a Topps Wacky Packages & Garbage Pail Kids Collection, and have such titles as "Pieces", "Eaten Alive" and "Body Count" in my home video collection, kind of sratches the "very mature" part out.
Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for you on the Friday board.

Where's David Hess??

Right here Gunnar, and hellllooooo LUNA!
Nice repartee, fun to read stuff from real fans, especially who know more about me than I do. I waiting on the HOTEOTP dvd, myself. Not much doin' on the home front at this time. Ulli Lommell is feverishly editing "Zodiac" as we converse and I'm about to begin a new film with Rob Nilsson, a one taker at this point. He's a Cassevetes and Bergman acolyte and the script is fascinating. Tarantino and I have and appointment to make one in the near future and what with my starting to assemble a new cd, my life is pretty full. I'll post more on as it comes to pass and sorry for not putting something upfront and personal...like the news page or what ever. Nice to have you on board, Gunnar, Luna's been with us a while and she's totally there.
David

Hi lunA,
What is the best chance I have
in contacting Mr. Hess ? Through this
messageboard ? I left my Last House
memory and a question for him a few
weeks ago. Does he check this message
board often ? I have'nt bought the Last
House DVD yet. Tell me are the interviews
with the castmembers interesting ? Do
any of them look the same ?

Thanks ! John Chicago

Gunner... Wacky Packages and GPKs????? We are WAY too similar.

It's fun though getting to know people from different angles beyond the sole focus of a particular message board. I mean on the Friday board, people know I'm a die hard Hess fan and they often joke and make reference to it in chat. They also know I'm into the exploitation flicks, regardless of my quite genuine innocent exterior. Hey what can I say, we all have these quirky little things that make us who we are. For a week I had people obsessed with Last House on Dead End Street, although not a single one of them had seen it. Realize the power of Luna. They know I think Peter Jackson is GOD and am a HUGE Monty Python freak.

I've always been much less personal on this board, because you tend to follow the format of the board, but every once in a while I'll throw you guys a curveball and come up with something out of the ordinary. It is all, without a doubt, out of my love for David though. I love this board more than any other and when there is nothing new on it, I start to get antsy and must do something rash like start a thread like this. Maybe I'm a bit obsessed, but nobody can honestly say they've never been so with a personality of some sort. I guess I haven't grown up much... I'm still a kid at heart and am still very passionate about the things I love. These days, first and foremost, David.

Anyway... yeah... I'm going to shut up now...

LunA, Your a 27 year old Garbage Pail Kids & Wacky Packages lover too!! Who would've known. In another thread members Hessstations and Barrie (Manilow Jr?) say they're 27 too! Very odd indeed. Something was in the air in 75.

John T, I can't answer how best to contact David Hess. But I will tell you about the HOTEOTP interviews...

Giovanni Lombardo Radice: Well, he looks about the same. Just slightly heavier and very bald. In his interview he covers pretty much the same ground as he has in past text interviews. He talks about Lorraine De Selle's nervousness during the sex scene, how he was chosen for the part while measuring a stage by Deodato's mother-in-law at the time, and how Michele Soavi was originally casted for the role of Ricky (!)

Ruggero Deodato: He looks about the same, only grey with a few laugh lines and age spots. His interview is done in italian w/ english subtitles...if you've ever heard his english you'll know it's for the better. He covers some interesting ground. But he might strike a nerve of some fans with his comments about David Hess. He claims that Hess caused many problems with production because he was a "greedy man" who "loved money". Personally, I took this as, the italian producers where cheap and liked to take advantage. They needed him onboard to sell the film and he knew it and wasn't about to do the job for peanuts.

David Hess: This is by far the best interview on the disc, as well as the best Hess interview presented on a dvd so far. While the interviews on the releases of Last House & Hitch-Hike were basically products of clever editing. This interview isn't rushed. This time you get a very candid view of David. And alot of ground is covered in the 35 minutes. Everything from his opinions of each and every castmember to possible hints of a homosexual relationship between the characters of Ricky & Alex. His intereview is followed by a short one with his wife. She recalls some memories of meeting David for the first time, her opinions of Deodato, etc. Then they hit her with the question about her part in House on the Edge (the opening rape scene). She immediatly blushes and tries to hide her face. She is very charming. And obviously a real trooper to agree to such an interview...and of course David's a trooper too.

Also I should mention. The subtitles on Ruggero Deodato's interview (I've been told) don't work on some players. If anyone has problems with them not working comment here and I'll post the full transcript of his interview.

HA! You're asking me?!?! Very cool... but alas, Gunner beat me to it.

In addition, yes, David does post on this board often enough which you'd know if you went back through old threads... tsk tsk tsk. He doesn't always respond though, he is of course a busy guy... but if you're persistent, I'm sure you'll get the answers you're looking for.

As far as the Last House dvd, all the cast that's shown looks basically the same... David has, of course, aged the best. It's a lot of fun though seeing them all interacting after all these years and it's obvious they were good friends. The deleted scenes and stills are what really make the release worthwhile, in my opinion though. If you're a Hess fan, it's a must.

Any more questions? Hey, do I get paid for this?

Doh!, Looking back I realize he was asking about the Last House on the Left interviews not the ones on House on the Edge of the Park. Sorry

Hi lunA,
Thanks for responding. Last
House on the Left still holds an effect
on me all these years. Seeing it at
16 25 years ago left me spellbound. The
other movie with it was "Don't Look in
the Basement" Hell of a double feature !
I read on the net that Sandra Peabody did
not take part in the 30th anniversary DVD
featurette on Last House. Why is this ?
She must have been asked. Does she want
to distance herself from the fact she
was in it ? I would love to see what she
looks like 30 years later !

Thanks again John T Chicago
